Main Areas of Practice:
- Homicide, both murder and voluntary and involuntary manslaughter. Significant experience of cases with multiple accused, often said to be in the first division, joint enterprise and secondary participation, and of persons acting in self defence, in the course of duty (eg police officers and others, where authorised to carry arms) and otherwise
- Psychiatric issues, including insanity, fitness to plead, diminished responsibility, alcoholism etc.
- Issues surrounding the evidence of those granted an immunity from prosecution
- Violence, including OAPA 1861 offences; Public Order offences, including affray; football hooliganism
- Sexual offences, including rape, incest, buggery and indecency offences. Experience of cases involving witnesses of tender years, both as victims and, occasionally, to the event
- Fraud (VAT, mortgage, insurance etc, in particular cases with a large volume of documentation)
- Dishonesty, all manner of offences
- Drugs importation and supplying offences
- Inchoate offences
- Computer misuse
- Road traffic offences, including causing death by dangerous driving, construction and use, and drink driving offences
- Firearms
- Health and Safety Enforcement
- Environmental prosecutions
- Criminal offences under housing legislation
- Liquor licensing
